I lost my blog. Backups saved me. Now I’m taking it to the next level by implementing the 3-2-1 backup strategy with rclone and OneDrive.

Keeping a blog alive is a lot of pressure. Wouldn’t it make more sense to have a central Blaugust blog that everyone could post in, rather than having a hundred small blogs?

I was playing around and wrote a script last week that took an old backup of my previous blog, West Karana, and brought it to life as a GitHub repository. A friend on Twitter challenged me to do even better. Yesterday, I found a more recent backup – posts up to 2016, that I wrote for Google+, and used that as a source to finally get everything merged to this blog. It’s an exciting DevOps adventure. ...

I was fascinated by UltrViolet’s DevOps-ification of his blog, “Endgame Viable”. The sort of stuff he’s doing is the sort of stuff I do every day at work. I’m getting paid to get better at doing all of this stuff, but my own blog can’t take advantage? That ends today. Today, I bring my old blog, West Karana, back to life, via the magic of DevOps.
