Star Trek Prodigy: Supernova

Out of all the new-era Star Trek shows, Star Trek Prodigy is the one that strays furthest from the basic template. It’s the first targeted specifically toward children, and the first that, at least at first, doesn’t involve Starfleet. It’s Star Trek for a generation that has been raised on the Disney Star Wars animated shows. And so it is likely the first Star Trek or Star Wars show to really ask – and answer – the question, who would win? Star Trek or Star Wars? ...

Let's Go Looking For My Games

Spoiler alert: They’re in China. Last week, game developer Todd Walsh and publisher Mike Gnade held a live preview of their new game expansion, “Set a Watch: Swords of the Coin”. During the Q&A session afterward, they expanded on how difficult it is to print games with lower print runs or custom components in the US or the EU. So, everyone goes to China. Crowfall was released a couple of weeks ago. Suddenly, everyone was talking about it. And then, suddenly everyone was not. What did it all mean? I asked Google Trends to help me analyze searches for a dozen or so MMOs to help understand what all was going on with MMOs today. ...

STO: So what IS up with Seven's outfit?

It’s a wonderful world we live in where we can have a videogame show people at a conference table and still get in a decent crotch shot. STILL not understanding why Seven of Nine has to wear skin-tight clothing. The Borg don’t. Starfleet doesn’t. And, why does The Doctor look old? I know Robert Picardo has gotten older, but this is a video game. The Doctor can look like the younger him, no problem. Is this some sort of weird Bicentennial Man thing going on? And he’s always going on about his subroutines. I guess that doesn’t mean the same thing that it does to those long-dead 20th century programmers who defined it in the first place. ...
