Godville: Dungeon Run

I was surprised to see so much interest in a #Godville post :) Godville is indeed a game like ProgressQuest, a parody of MMOs where it seemed all you would do is just grind gear… forever. Godville, like, say, Kingdom of Loathing, goes beyond being a simple parody of a video game into actually being a real game. You don’t play Godville directly. You are a god (or goddess), and your hero (or heroine) will happily go adventuring on their own with no input from you. You can, in fact, create a character, set the game to true ZPG (zero player game) mode, and come back in five years and find your character has joined a guild, or several, raised a pet, built a temple, gained levels, upgraded gear and so on. ...

Godville: Pet Trainer!

My pet finally hit level 30 in Godville, and I now can proudly bear the “Pet Trainer” badge and have someone to put in my ark when it’s finally built. Occasionally, Godville kills your pet and then there’s a mad scramble to get enough gold for a resurrection before the 60 hour timer expires. Pinky’s last death, I had gotten enough gold and was headed back to town when I was killed. So I had to go earn enough gold again. I didn’t get the “quick rez” experience bonus, but I did manage to make it in time and now… done! ...

Valkyria Chronicles: Recapture of Bruhl

Valkyria Chronicles: Recapture of Bruhl. I guess the lesson here is, CAN a map be done just by buffing Alicia up to her scarf and seeing if she can just survive the run to the end? I missed an enemy ace in a tank, but got the one in the enemy base. I guess I should go back sometime and try to get the tank ace…. It was kinda grim that Welkin and Kreis had this big conversation about how they worked well together and got the win, when neither of them had moved from their spawn spots. ...

Valkyria Chronicles: Battle at Marberry Shore

Valkyria Chronicles: Battle at Marberry Shore I didn’t expect to get a first time “A” rank here. There was lots going on, and it wasn’t until a couple moves in that I understood the map enough to figure out the winning strategy, and even then it took a couple moves to execute it. The strat was pretty simple, in the end. With Isara’s smoke bombs providing cover, Alicia, powered up with Welkin’s orders, just, nigh-invulnerable, ran to the end camp, killed the two defenders, and took the flag. ...

Valkyria Chronicles: The Batomys is rust!

Valkyria Chronicles: The Batomys is rust! I did enough skirmishes to get my lancers to elite status, but didn’t get a new weapon for doing so. I thought I would be getting some new super weapon. I went into the desert fight vs the Batomys and the Valkyrie, but it still took three shots to take out a turret. Nonetheless, I’d been to the Church of the Sniper, and I had not been slacking (too much) on their training. Every time normal enemy troops showed, I spent command points on snipers to take them down. Save/Load until every one of their shots was a kill shot. ...

Valkyria Chronicles: Grinding levels.

Valkyria Chronicles: Grinding levels. I think the problems I’ve been having battling the Batomys dreadnought in The Battle at Barious was because my lancers were sitting around level 4 or so, my scouts and shock troopers were at 6, and my snipers and engineers were also barely leveled. Just leveling up with the missions isn’t doing the trick. So it was time to head into the skirmishes. The first skirmish can be done in a single move – actually, it can be done by a single character in a single move, but that skirmish isn’t worth much XP, so I moved on to the next one, one of the city maps I did in the campaign. I managed to finish that in three moves, which was good enough for a “B”. I looked at a cheat guide to find out how to do it in a single move – I’ve already done this map in the campaign, this is not cheating really. ...

Crypt of the NecroDancer: King Conga

Finally got far enough in Crypt of the NecroDancer to hit my first chapter boss, King Conga. You have to move according to the conga beat – move move pause… Best roguelike of 2015 for me so far. This was posted on Google+

Valkyria Chronicles: Battle of Barious Desert done.

[gallery ids=“11321,11320,11317,11318,11319,11315,11316”] Valkyria Chronicles: Battle of Barious Desert done. I’ve been working on this one for a couple of days. It’s a desert map with occasional sandstorms. The huge number of enemy lancers and light tanks makes advancing the Edelweiss an issue. I always knew this mission would have to be won by scouts circling around the back while the main force provides a distraction to the south. The commander said snipers would be important, and provided some positions for our snipers. The enemies have lots of snipers, too. Our snipers were to take out the machine gun and sniper nest above the first capture point to allow foot soldiers to come through, kill the enemy lancers and shocktroopers, and retreat to the newly captured point. ...

It's a Wipe: Done, finished, everyone kicked out of the guild...

I finished “It’s a Wipe!” tonight. I won’t spoil the last raid because it’s something people should figure out themselves. Nobody spoiled it for me :) Some of the fights took a couple tries – actually, I think the first one took like three tries, and the second one took twice. The last two were funny :) You can see my winning raid group in the picture. Most of these raiders hate, hate, hate me. But, I needed my best-geared guildies with me. ...

It's a Wipe: Dragon's Lair cleared by Crimson Eternity.

Dragon’s Lair cleared by Crimson Eternity. Draconic Berserker – Turns out your have to move everyone forward, then backward, then forward again, which confuses him, after which he dies easily. Whelps – I tried and tried to figure out how to keep these things from respawning – killing the color groups individually, left to right, back to front, but eventually they just thinned out and stopped respawning. Singe the Dragon – what your raid is wiping to in the intro to the game. Occasionally moves out of range of melee and summons two smaller drakes. I took them out and eventually Singe moved back into melee range. ...
