Neverwinter: Foundries on the Half-Shell

It’s another night of foundry fun! Four player quests played by our intrepid questing duo. One of which was actually really good :) Wild Man of the Wood by @Kathrian A noblewoman invites you into her home to ask you to go on a mission of utmost discretion: bring a letter to a wild man seen in the woods outside of town. Kasul and I were sure this was some sort of illicit affair, and guess what, we were right. Her hubby is a demonic chimera, her lover is a druid who has taken a vow against showering, and this quest leaves most of the actual story to the next quest in the campaign. ...

Neverwinter: Foundry Contest Update #2

Well, I meant for this second map, “Outside the Auction House”, to just be a transition map. You hand an NPC an item, he sends you on to the next map. And then I wanted to add a second NPCs story, allow you to, perhaps, choose the lesser of two evils to support. And then I thought, why should the player have to choose between two bad choices? Maybe there could be a third, hidden choice that would be more difficult, but more honorable. ...

Neverwinter: Are We There Yeti?

How many times have I done the Need for Mead daily quest in Neverwinter? I thought I’d figured out a surefire method to spawn the daddy Yeti so I could get another Yeti Treat to try and tame the baby yeti outside the instance. I hadn’t. It has SOMETHING to do with the Beast Handler, but darned if I know what. Half the time I did the instance, I somehow got a yeti treat, but couldn’t entice the baby yeti. ...

Neverwinter: Through Fire and Flames -- Foundry Night!

Despite storms both here and in Columbus, the potato salad capital of the world, Kasul and I managed to fight our way through the thunder for another FOUNDRY NIGHT! YAYYY! Only the Young by @lakatoi7 Petre’s village is inhabited only by young people! Older people disappear when they reach a certain age. Petre’s parents are just now reaching that certain age, and she is afraid for their lives. ...

Neverwinter: Foundry Night!

My internet troubles delayed our weekly Foundry Festivities, but the stars aligned and once again set off into the hinterlands of player-written adventures. The Eternal Darkness (Golf) by @freddykidd Kasul led off with this one, a fairly newish quest with an interesting premise – what DO vampires get to in the long, cold dark of night? Why, they play golf! The adventure was mostly an excuse to let loose with punny names, like “Benny Hillgiant”, above. I was disappointed in not being actually able to play golf at any point, but both Kasul and I marked it up for decent level design and puns that just wouldn’t stop. ...

Neverwinter: Foundry Contest Progress Report #1

Five days without Internet was tougher than I imagined. But it’s back up now, just in time for the new Neverwinter foundry contest. To kick off our Season of Dragons campaign, we’ve decided to hold a Foundry contest focused on the Cult of the Dragon! To participate, authors must create a Foundry quest with an average duration of at least 15 minutes that includes the Cult of the Dragon in a meaningful way. The winners will receive some amazing prizes in addition to having their Foundry quests featured for all to admire! ...

Neverwinter: Protector's Jubilee

It was a pretty exciting week back in Neverwinter, my home town on the edge of Mt. Hotenow, where the dwarves are good looking, the elves are loud, and all the children are above average. The Protector’s Jubilee is in town to celebrate another year of escaping destruction at the hands of the hundreds of millions of assailants against whom the city guard is of no help whatsoever. While adventurers do their deeds outside the city walls, powerful masters protect threats from the inside. ...

Neverwinter: See you on the next map!

Today’s weekly Foundry run was a mixed bag… some good, some bad, and some we’d done before. We’ve been running these things so long that we’re getting into these foundries and after a couple minutes, feeling almost positive that we’ve played these before. And we have! It’s actually a kinda sad commentary on just how similar some foundries are. But, we had a couple bright spots… and one really low one. ...

Dragons Must Die

Chartilifax is Dead I like to think I enjoy dungeons in MMOs when the group I’m in isn’t depending upon me for anything. All I have to do is some simple task, and then everyone else does all the hard work. I LIKE to think that – but it isn’t true. I’m a team player. At work I’m a team player. I really do enjoy it when, as a team, we accomplish something of which I was a part. I wasn’t always that way – when I was young, I was always looking to stand out, to be better than anyone. ...

We Will Flounder in Foundries!

Kasul makes an astute observation Another week, another quartet of questionable quests – one of which is mine! MINE! Bwahahahaha! Feast of the Moon – NW-DCWHIKFXA by @XHRIT But we start out this week with one of the new featured quests, Feast of the Moon. “You have been cordially invited to attend the annual Feast of the Moon celebration, by Lady Neverex of Neverwinter. Formal attire is requested.” Formal attire was requested, but we just came in wearing our tired old armor. Didn’t even polish it. ‘Twas okay, they let us in, they even seemed to know us. We mingled with the guests a bit, did some dancing in the disco, chatted with Neverex herself, and then – and then the bad things started. We found ourselves in a deep cave system, overrun with kobolds. Kasul found a hilarious new way to die! Which is to go crazy backstabbing every monster, even the one I just shoved off a walkway into oblivion. ...
