Lord of the Rings Online: Crafting the Hard Way

It’s been bugging me for awhile that my Woodworker, Eraindiel, never mastered apprentice woodworking. She just leveled out of the area too soon, and needed to get making journeyman and now expert weapons – without mastery, so not as good as they could be, but good enough. Last night, Windfola was acting up and moving around was difficult, so largely we stayed in the Bree crafting hall. I felt that would be the perfect opportunity to finish off master apprentice woodworking so that at least the journeyman-level weapons I was making for kinsfolk would count. ...

Chronicles of Spellborn Dev Webinar, Apr 03

Friday’s dev “Webinar” was beset by a number of technical problems – for the first half hour, all I could hear was the software repeating in a pleasant voice that the organizers hadn’t yet joined the webinar, though I could see them moving things around on the screen. After two restarts, I finally was able to hear what was going on. Discussion centered largely around a few questions. First, what should the new max level for the free content be? Almost everyone agreed that 7 was too low; between levels 10 and 12 seemed to be the new ‘sweet spot’. Second, should Spellborn allow auto attack? Currently, unless you are mashing buttons, you are not doing anything. This would let you do a certain amount of damage automatically. There was violent opposition to this. ...

Wizard 101: To lose oneself in Rebirth

To lose oneself in reverb, in all that is and all that seems. So, ladies, fish and gentlemen, here’s my angled dream. To see me in the blue sky bag, and meet me by the sea. – Blue Oyster Cult C’mon, I know someone at KingsIsle is a BÖC fan. Anyway, I dived deep into the Test server this week end, and swam out with a new spell card pasted into my spellbook. And here it is. ...

EQ2: Epic encounter in my bedroom

It was really cool! See, Kasul and I were kinda bored, and we were alone in the guild hall, and we got to thinking about what we could do and so we … HEY! STOP SNIGGERING! OMG! You people… I swear. I’m gonna stop writing this post unless you stop laughing. It wasn’t THAT kind of encounter. A couple of weeks ago, SOE put an Orc Centurion into their Station Marketplace thingy RMT thing. And I’ve been wracking my brains trying to think of what you could DO with it. ...

Lord of the Rings Online: Champion of the World

Yeah, it’s a Jimmy Buffet song. Did you REALLY want me to…? Really? Okay, just for you, because you’re a friend, the real title of this post is “We are the Champions”. And, we will, we will rock you. Last night, I joined Stargrace and Kasul in LotRO for a little Nostalgia action. Gozad peeked in for awhile, and if we can get some other Nostalgians – looking at you, Sirhyl and Malfi – to return, we will have a pretty amazing group. ...

EverQuest 2: The Sootfoot Experience.

Dina shows off the new Weapon Appearance slots and some Sootfoot Magma armor. If you want to make your own Sootfoot armor, you’ll need to do every one of the Sootfoot quests, the Far Seas Trading Company quests, and have your mining and fishing both at 190 or better, AND be able to craft some low level items. Sootfoot Armor is Tier 5. So it’s a bit of a commitment out the gate, but hey, cool looking armor is worth it. Always! ...

EverQuest 2: Lavastorm revamp

Flying over the newly redesigned Lavastorm on my elemental horse, I kinda feel a little like Santa, except if instead of riding Rudolph, Santa was riding a demon steed, and instead of flying over the North Pole, Santa was flying over the pits of Hell. And instead of presents, Santa dropped lava bombs. And instead of making little children happy, Santa was trying to make the Sootfoot goblins angry with him. ...

EverQuest: How I soloed Veeshan

If you go to the Plane of Time and enter the time rift that takes you to the Void, you probably have already seen Veeshan, the Queen of All Dragons and the discoverer of Norrath itself, hovering just out of reach, LAUGHING at you because we mere mortals are JUST THAT FUNNY. You can plink arrows at her all day and her grin is just gonna keep on getting bigger because she is carefully hovering just out of arrow’s reach. ...

Lord of the Rings: Lore and History of the Hedge-Maze

In the times of war and strife, still there must be hope. Spring brings with it new life, and the Free Peoples of Bree have chosen for a time to put aside their worries and cares and take joy in the seasons turn from the cold fastness of winter’s reign to spring’s joyous green awakening. Mayor Graeme Tenderlarch has caused to be built, with the lore of the elves, the good cheer of the Halflings, which some call Hobbits, the craftsmanship and drink of the Dwarves, and the industry of Man, a Hedge Maze in the festival portion of the Horsefields above Bree. ...

Lord of the Rings Online: O Capitaine, mon Capitaine

I’ve been deliberately avoiding my Captain since I returned to the Lord of the Rings – she’s so much higher level than anyone else I know who plays – 35 to everyone else’s 13-23 – that it just seemed wrong to not play a lower level character while everyone catches up. But heck, everyone in my circle of gaming companions is staggering under as large a gameload as I am (and why is that?) so – hey, look, I have a character who isn’t looking forward to dreary months soloing in Lone Lands. ...
