One of the most frustrating things in Wizard 101 is the inability to speak freely. Wizard 101 uses a “dictionary” chat system, which only allows words in that dictionary, and things like numbers, names of states or anything else that might be used to easily identify or locate someone, replaced with an ellipsis (…). ...

It started out like a normal day. Then Turbine announced that it’s Dungeons & Dragons Online MMO was going Free to Play, and Twitter ignited and MMO bloggers the world over ran to their keyboards to pound out the news. Subscribers were now VIPs! And the new “unlimited” players were (by comparison) NVIPs! Or VUIPs! (Sorry if I didn’t link to the announcement on your blog; after awhile I stopped saving the announcements). ...

Well, here it is, a warm Spring night, just started writing, and “ ” comes up on the playlist, and it just seemed to fit the mood so well… And re: the banner, well, Atlus’ newly revamped MMO import NeoSteam closed its Open Beta today to relaunch soon as a real live game. Rumor has it that characters from both the closed and open betas will carry through to the live game, so if you’ve a yen to play a fairly standard fantasy grinder with PvP and a light industrial flair, give it a shot. ...
The NDA for Aion prevents me from saying anything specific about the game; press doesn’t face these same limitations, so you can read some impressions at Massively and other places, and I’ll give my own impressions when I can. Having an NDA when there’s a million people playing is kinda weird, but I’ll stand by the agreement I clicked upon. But there’s no NDA that tells me I can’t talk about the players. ...
It took a really long time to get all the skills trained for this day – it always seemed to be just one more skill I needed, and I think Mining V was the last I needed to fit the Modulated Strip Miner II asteroid crushers I’d bought a couple weeks ago in anticipation. My target for my mining operation was 5m ISK/hour; if I could log in, spend a good hour mining, and come out 5m ISK richer, then I feel this side trip into mining on my way to my battle cruiser would be ultimately worth it. ...
When a friend asks you to look after their pets for a couple of days, don’t just automatically say yes… Finally got around to reinstalling EQ2, so it launches and works and all that fun stuff. And they had new pets in the Marketplace! So naturally, a camel came home with me. And by home, I mean not the guild hall, as the new pets can’t be placed there. Sadness. ...
Like I need an excuse to show off my home :) And though I love my little Marleybone manor, it doesn’t even come close to comparing with the marvelous work others have done on their homes. Every time I visit one, I feel like spending hours just peeking in room after room. ...
Just like pretty much everyone else, I bought Sims 3 and played it for awhile yesterday. I started off in a full family with two kids, a husband and me, and it didn’t go so well. I restarted living single and had plenty of time to myself, lots of chances to learn and have fun and relax, and never once felt hurried, and in all ways my life was better without a family. But at least I didn’t make my family the cast of Joss Whedon’s Firefly. Yet. ...
