Game Log: Pirate101, FTL

Armada I met up with Friendly Thomas and Eccentric Austin Ornsley last night for a little soiree on the decks of Austin’s galleon. On the POOP deck, mind you. Just needed for you all to know that. Poop deck. Well, we’d cracked open a new barrel of yum (with my head) (it was an accident, I swear), and before long, the companions were all muttering to themselves about the sorry state of their pirate masters, and somebody, not sure who, said we should go out and hunt us some cutthroats. ...

Game Log: Pirate101, Torchlight 2

Rumble in the Presidio I kinda remembered the Presidio battle from Alpha, but Arislyn on Google+ was saying it had gotten a lot tougher. I think I did it with someone else back then, but I didn’t remember it being TOO hard. Basic plot is, you’re trying to get a favor from the Frogfather – the location of a notorious pirate you’ve been chasing – and to earn that, you need to do the Frogfather a favor – get some spices stored in the Monquista Presidio. ...

Pirate101: Yo ho ho, a Pirate's Life for Me

.yarr { padding: 5px; float: left; } “Oh, ship ahoy, and where do you steer?” Blow high, blow low, and so sailed we; “Are you man-of-war, or privateer?” On the bonny coasts of Barbary. “I am neither one of the two,” said she, Blow high, blow low, and so sailed we; “I’m a pirate, looking for my fee,” On the bonny coasts of Barbary. Pirate101, the new free-to-play, family-friendly fantasy pirate game from the makers of the popular Wizard101, went live today. If you ever played Wizard101, you’ll remember the Spiral, a linked set of island worlds hanging in the void. What ships ply that void? ...

Game Log: Guild Wars 2

Tipster, level 15 Asura thief I’ve been in my Guild Wars 2 guild a couple of days, and I’ve come to appreciate just how ironically named the game is. Sure, it’s just a spam invite guild – Ranger Rabble or something like that, even though I’m not a ranger – and (not for lack of trying) haven’t spoken to anyone else in the guild and am really just in it because otherwise, my game time isn’t contributing to any larger effort. Ironic because this is a game that really doesn’t need guilds (lampshaded perhaps by GW2 allowing you to be a member of multiple guilds, changing between them at will). ...

W101: The Puzzle revealed -- the Rise of Avalon!

Avalon Sure, everyone had this figured out awhile ago, but finally it’s announced – the newest world on the Spiral is Avalon. Professor Greyrose writes: Avalon is the silver city, a medieval fantasy world of knights, goblins, giants, and dragons. Merle Ambrose was born here, and gained a reputation as a fierce Wizard. Merle helped the young warrior-bear Artorius become king of Avalon. However, once King Artorius fell in the final battle slaying his archrival, Malory, Merle decided it was time to leave Avalon – Merle left to found Ravenwood School of Magical Arts and teach magic to any Wizard who wanted to learn it in the Spiral. ...

DDO: Web of Chaos

Helpless! What I want to know is, if the Spinner of Shadows could “hold person” everyone in the party instantly, with no saving throw, for as long as she wanted, anytime she wanted – how did we win the fight? Not to say that it wasn’t a fun fight – it was. The whole Web of Chaos arc was a lot of fun, for all that the last adventure turned into an extended advertisement for the expansion, giving some reason for the sudden merger of the world of Eberron and the world of Forgotten Realms. ...

W101: Interview with a Raven

Whenever I get confused or overwhelmed in Wizard101, I head to Wintertusk and talk with Mother Raven. These mysterious puzzle pieces had me puzzled… I guess… so I headed over the rainbow bridge to the Wintertusk barge, threaded my way through the slow-moving vultures, worked my way up the root of Yggdrasil and asked her if she could fit these puzzle pieces together. She said nothing. She just gave me another piece. I had a feeling from her that it would all fit together in the end, but … who can tell? Who can know the future? ...

W101: A puzzle piece, wrapped in an enigma, surrounded by a mystery

I had to wonder if there were any other puzzle pieces in any of my other character’s homes. To my shock and welcome surprise, Marissa’s wall contained a third mysterious puzzle piece. It looks to be the right part of some sort of building or statue, which kinda implies it’s on the right side of the puzzle, but not all the way to the edge. The yellow markings could mean Myth or maybe Balance. There’s something poking up from the bottom which could be an axe or a hammer. ...

Wizard101: A Puzzle of a Puzzler

I don’t spend a LOT of time in my homes in Wizard101, so I’m not sure exactly when I got some new artwork. Maybe someone can help fit these pieces together? The First Piece This piece looks to be a corner piece… those are always the best pieces to start with! Definitely part of the Wizard101 logo; it kinda looks like a piece of the old Celestia art… but it couldn’t be that. ...

STO: "Operation Gamma", part 1.

I’ve been struggling to get through this comic. The only good joke I had was toward the end, and it was a slog getting through to that point. So, I’m going to just make a NEW comic that speeds through all this beginning stuff. Since it shouldn’t go to waste, here’s the prologue to part 2.
