Before you start objecting to having an MMO up this far, I’m just going to present my bona fides: There’s a TON of games in the EverQuest series, and I’ve played most of them. EverQuest itself, obviously. EverQuest Online Adventures for the PS2? I have it. Champions of Norrath and its sequel, Champions: Return to Arms (which admittedly, did away with the EverQuest branding on its packaging)? I have them. Lords of Norrath, the RTS? Have it, played it. EverQuest pencil-and-paper RPG? Have it, ran a campaign in it as DM. EverQuest 2? Please. Landmark? Paid the hundred bucks, played it. ...

Last night: Started off with the dailies in DCUO. Kaptain KY had told me to fly left before the final fight to escape from Lobo’s Space Hogg, and that worked. Spode had said there was a special achievement for waiting for Luthor’s escape teleporter to recharge and then following it where it led, and I did. And I fell right into my very own Volcanic Hideout. So this is my new place now. Elon Musk, eat your heart out. ...

Octopath Traveler: Made it to the second phase of Galdera, the true final boss. This was my first time making it this far. Now that I’ve got the first phase understood, I just have to figure out how to get through this part before I can finally put the game away. Part of the issue came after I killed his three living weapons: he covered his weaknesses except for a couple I couldn’t break quickly. Then he swallowed all our boost points, spirit points, and health. I did my best but he killed half the team in one hit, and then the other half in the next hit. ...

During this PvE mission, I was politely asked by a teammate to "uninstall the game". Back in the before times, there was a blogger who was deep into World of Tanks. I don’t remember who it was, but I remember really liking the slower pace and the tactical gameplay. I didn’t (and don’t) much care for or about tanks. World of Planes, when I tried it, was way too fast paced and hard to keep track of the fight. ...

It’s of my son standing at the DCUO booth at a (then) Sony Online Entertainment Fan Faire. I was mostly excited about the upcoming Free Realms at the time. Twelve years later, Free Realms is gone, and DCUO remains. Since then, I’d joined a static group eventually called Team Spode, and we drifted from game to game before eventually coming to DCUO somewhere probably around 2014, though it may have been earlier. The earliest screenshot I have is from late 2014 and it’s clear the team was working on end game content. ...

But I kinda like it. The pulls are mostly easy, there’s a lot of time where even as a tank I can drop into DPS stance and do my best. On the other hand, there is no useful loot there for any job, given how easy it is now to get far better gear. The only reason to do this particular dungeon is for tomes. ...

FFXIV Daily Report: Level 60: Aetherochemical Research Facility Level 50: Amdapor Keep Leveling: Tam Tara Deepcroft Trial: Ifrit (Hard) (AST) Stone, Sea, Sky: Alexander Gordias (DRG & PLD) PLD gear level: 195 DRG gear level: 188 This was my first night playing post-patch, and there was a lot of stuff to get used to. All the level 60 dungeons which were spread out among two roulettes and didn’t include every dungeon, are combined into one roulette. We rolled up in Aetherochemical, NOT my favorite. Previously there were almost no rewards for doing this dungeon, but now there are esoteric and lore tomes to get. It was a smooth, if lengthy, run. ...

Soooo Eeeeeevil It’s been FOREVER, and I know it! So long that I just remember the highlights of what we did on our last “story night” before we ran out of main story quest and moved into the side stories of the level 60 content. But clearly, I had to mention the Warriors of Darkness. We stumbled across them while following rumors of a well-dressed mysterious stranger who was performing feats of derring-do for the residents of the Dravinian Forelands. The rumors led us instead to a monochromatically coordinated adventuring group making short work of Ravanna. A sudden Echo flashback showed them confronting an Ascian who seemed to be about to deflect their attack with an idea for better work they could be doing. Naturally, we have seen the leader of the Ascians conspiring with creepy-elf Urianger on some means to restore the balance, now that we, the Warriors of Light, have had our connection with Hydaelen restored and her power once again at our command. So clearly they have been turned. ...
