Was scanning Hulu and noticed a surprise picture of David Tennant in a show called Gracepoint. I’d heard he was reprising his role in a British series for an American audience. I had fun in the pilot trying to guess what sort of American accent Tennant was trying for, but it never came together for me. He was supposed to be from Philadelphia? The plot and so on was just a rehash of Fargo without the comedy or local flavor, or Twin Peaks without everything that made that show a treasure. Or Blackpool without the music videos, to bring in another Tennant detective show. ...

I don’t know the storyline – I haven’t played much Ingress since work transferred me to a location without many nearby portals – but there was no way I was going to miss this event in Hartford. And besides, end of next week, I’m transferred back to Hartford so Ingress will be back on for me in 2015. ...

Soooo after all the discussion yesterday, I downloaded the demo to “It’s a Wipe” and started leading my guild through the raids. You only get three raids in the demo – a tutorial, an easy raid (defeated below), and a medium raid. So far, the tactics have been pretty simple – tank the bad dudes, take out the healers first – but my guildies are gradually becoming less happy. Getting upgrades makes them less happy than the unhappiness caused by someone else getting an upgrade they could have used. So right now, I think eventually everyone will get unhappy enough to leave – with all the loot I’ve given them. ...
