I get a LOT of spam, most of it I just silently delete… but this one… this one is special. It’s from Russia, and any email or offer or web site from Russia is a scam. The place is the world capital of scams. I’d hate to actually try using the Internet from within Russia, as the citizens of that fine country probably find they can’t trust anything at all. ...
I’ve renamed the Web Log to the Daily Blogroll, just because I like the name better. Also, in the Shameless Self Promotion dept, look for the last Adventures in Monopoly scheduled for later today. There’ll be more adventures with Dire Bear, Scottie and Car, when they have another story to tell. It’s server merge time in EQ2 again. This time, the US PvP servers Nagafen and Venekor (RP) will merge after Fan Faire in June. Most PvP players seem okay with it, but some are taking it really hard. ...
Gamera is my hero! I like Godzilla, too. I never really got into American monsters, probably because they were a little too scary when I was a kid. Gamera the Brave has been the first movie on my Netflix queue for months, but it’s always listed as a Very Long Wait.
A few years ago, there was this cool demo of a new desktop metaphor where your files were actual objects you could shove around, stack, fan out, pin to the sides and stuff. Me, I am hardly ever looking at my desktop. Usually there’s a game going on, or I’m working in Photoshop, or just browsing the web – but I’m hardly ever just arranging icons on my desktop, and that seems to be all this program really did. To be honest, all I really need in a desktop is… hmm… launching programs that aren’t used enough to make it into my Start menu, I guess. ...
Thought it was time the old blog got a bit of a face lift. First up: A new header image that replaces the rotating headers of before. It takes up less bandwidth than the others which will help in my bandwidth costs, and it’s more “West Karana” than before :) Graphics done with Inkscape, the open source drawing/illustration program. Font is Cooper MT Medium Bold from MyFonts.com. The objects on which the stuff was based are from SOE’s EVERQUEST! Of course! The griffon was trucked in from North Karana for the photo shoot.
