EQ2: Brewday, or: How did I end up HERE?

… No, please, just give me a second … I remember it, at least I think I do … Dammit, someone turn out the lights. Oh, that’s the sun? Then could someone PLEASE TURN OFF THE SUN? Gah. My head … Oh, you want to know what I did on Brewday? Damned if I know. The last thing I remember was getting together with the drummer from the band after a few of their songs and … ...

EQ2: Latest arrivals in the Station Marketplace

Too long has the EQ2 Station Marketplace modeling job been dominated by “sexy” or “good looking” or even “somewhat attractive” models. It’s time for a change. It’s time for the gnomes to take over. The annual Brewday festival starts today (I think), but you won’t need to be drunk to grab these fine new hats and outfits for a little bit of cash. Show off your love of 70s-era live television comedy with your very own “Beldar and Prymatt Conehead” hat. Just the thing for ‘imbibing mass quantities’ on Brewday! For vertically-challenged gnomes, this hat has another feature – now you’re taller than any dwarf in the room! They will back away from your gnomish awesomeness as you cheerfully explain how the ratio of the height to the circumference of your hat is EXACTLY the same as the ratio of Master Dwarf’s intelligence to his hobnailed boot size! HA! ...

Classic EQ Petition

It’s probably just because EverQuest was my first really huge MMO (though not my first; Nexus: Kingdom of the Wind was my first), but I’ve never really felt about any other MMO the way I felt about EQ. Even though sometimes it was frustrating, it was always fun, and it’s the friends I met there and the memories I have that have kept me subscribed since May of 1999. ...

EQ2: Hooded Justice never looked so sweet

Back in, oh, I guess this would be the early 90s, I had a friend who was so excited about finally putting all her paintings – ‘paintings’ – on this new World Wide Web thing. I’d known she liked art, but painting? I didn’t know she did that. She sent everyone in our little circle of friends links to her paintings page. And it was all, every single one, pictures of her filtered through some oil painting setting of some early paint program. ...

EQ2: Don't leave your guild hall without your appearance armor!

It’s been a long time since I peeked beneath Dina’s appearance armor to see what all that cool stuff looks like. I’d gotten the TSO Tier 1 armor crafting book from a crafting mission Kasul and I duoed, and so was making TSO armor like crazy to fill up some gaping holes in my outfit. But – what does this stuff look like? Yeah. Like THAT. You will never see my characters undressed again, I promise! On the right, Dina is in her normal outfit. ...

Sick Sixth Six!

Okay, Stargrace tagged me with a meme to post the sixth screenshot from the sixth subfolder of my saved screenshots. So that’s what I’m gonna do. All my file names are actually a hash code I made so I wouldn’t keep duplicate pictures so honestly, I don’t know what picture is gonna show here. This is from my EQ Classic folder, and shows us in a Hate raid, before it was made into an xp zone. ...

EQ: A signature trip down memory lane.

Stargrace’s high speed romp through EverQuest has made me nostalgic. REALLY nostalgic. I remember when each new victory, the culmination of much effort, many tries, and no little creativity, would bring us just a little closer toward – I dunno. Guild status? That was part of it. The feeling that we were all a tightly knit group of friends that we could utterly rely upon? That was part of it. There was so much to it. ...

The clandestine Norrath/Dragonspyre connection

Norrath, the planet itself, wasn’t discovered by humans or elves or iksar or the ancient snake people or even the gods. It was discovered by the great she-dragon Veeshan, who chose this nondescript planet on which to raise her brood. She marked the planet with a swipe of her claws, claiming it as her own to all who could read her sign. Her brood, the First, and all their many descendants chose that event as their emblem, until the time when the awakened Sleeper, Kerafrym, tore the moon of Luclin apart, and in defiance of Veeshan, chose for his symbol, himself, curled in the same way, bursting the moon. Veeshan may have been content to leave her mark on some forgotten frozen continent, but Kerafrym’s mark would be laid across the entire SKY. ...

EQ2 Mish-mash!

Lots of updates to progressin EverQuest II and, unfortunately, not a lot of time to write about them, so here goes. I have three goals in EQ2 at the moment – finishing Heritage Quests for our guild, Nostalgia, getting Dina’s tailoring to 80 and also finishing the Rise of Kunark expansion by defeating Trakanon in Veeshan’s Peak. Once these are done, I’ll probably start focusing on doing TSO missions. I was reading yesterday about a friend who has almost finished his second set of TSO armor; I don’t even have one item from the first set. I spent about ten void shards on resist jewelry for raiding and have five or so left over. Most TSO missions I’m in – pickup groups every one, as Kasul and I are Nostalgia’s only active members doing TSO content and we’re far too few to form a group – end in failure, so it’s just a gigantic waste of time, usually taking more than an hour to finally abandon the mission with a pile of debt and repair bills. ...

EQ2: Wings of the Void? WANT. Also, Flower.

The new Legends of Norrath set, Against the Void launched yesterday. I want to get into LoN, I like collectible card games, but I just worry that to do well, I’ll have to sink serious money into cards. That’s what finally got me off Magic: the Gathering – but at least I got to keep my cards when I stopped playing. I have nostalgic fun every time I move somewhere and move them from one box to a new box. ...
