Adventures in Monopoly: Oracle, Part III

There was too much to cover for one comic, so this comic gets everyone in place for Part IV, where we learn the truth about many things.

City of Villains: A Villain's Tale

I was teleporting around Cap du Diablo and this story came to me, pretty much exactly as it is here. Sometimes they just come like that, fully formed, and then it’s just a matter of putting the pieces together. Enjoy :)

Adventures in Monopoly: Oracle, Part II

Last week, a magical Scrabble board intervened in a fight between Bear and Scottie before the wielding of the mystic forces each command could tear the Monopoly board entirely apart. Seeing they would not listen to reason, as a last resort, the Scrabble oracle sent the two pieces through a dimensional rift, where they would learn to work together – or perish. Since this (and part of the next) comic take place in a computer-generated dungeon, I figured this would be a good opportunity to practice lighting and set design. When I’m photographing on the Monopoly board, I try for weird angles just because I have that freedom. Here, it’s one lighting model, one set, and everything had to be acted out by the pieces. ...

Adventures in Monopoly: Oracle, Part I

When we left our intrepid band, Scottie and Bear were about to rip each other to shreds. Scottie was still a little hurt because Bear, having killed him, forced him to live a life of undeath. Bear was angry that Scottie and Car had stranded him on Boardwalk, which had suddenly sprung a Casino Hotel. From its throne in the mysterious Game Closet, the Scrabble board heard the tumult and descended to the Prime Playing Plane to mediate between the two and urge them to get back to buying and selling real estate, like proper Monopoly playing pieces. ...

Adventures in Monopoly: Revenge, Part III

In last week’s episode of Adventures in Monopoly, Scottie made his way back from the Old European Monopoly set over a vast cardboard ocean in the hold of a Lego pirate ship. To the shock and amazement of his friends, though, he appeared healthy and very much alive, though he had been killed during Bear’s coup d’etat. Scottie was reluctant to say much until he heard Bear complaining about something in the distance. And then Scottie became very much interested. ...

Adventures in Monopoly: Revenge, Part 2

All this next week will be back to regular adventures in regular MMOs. This comic just forced itself to be written, so what could I do? I’m weak, I admit it. Poem is in many ways similar to Coleridge’s “Rime of the Ancient Mariner”. The font used is RPG Script and was donated for general use by Bad Gods’ Lore Sjöberg, so for those people who wonder what you can get out of Twitter, hey, the occasional free font. ...

Adventures in Monopoly #4: Revenge

The story thus far: After an attempted coup that leaves him imprisoned, Bear escapes and rounds up a gang of ne’er-do-well tokens and takes over the entire board in a legendary crime wave that leaves trusting and lovable Scottie dead. Scottie’s friends Car and Hat, following their friend’s wishes, took his body to Germany and buried it in Frei Parken and said a mysterious, ancient Latin prayer over his body. When night fell, Scottie rose from his grave, darker, evil, thinking only of revenge. ...
