I buy too much stuff on Kickstarter. And so can you. Might be fun to look into some of the recent projects I’ve backed… especially since I can’t reliably connect to DCUO since the patch so I am practicing mandolin and backing Kickstarters… and one of them is too horrifying to talk about. Townscaper has left early access and hit app stores all around the world with the peaceful grooves of Swedish seaside villages. It also is released for 3D printers. I have taken the 3D printing for a spin… and the results are pretty cool! A really simple Townscape For those who haven’t had their lives touched by Townscaper, it’s a simple little game, originally out for Steam but now also out for the Nintendo Switch, where you paint a town onto a placid sea. As you build further, landscaping, beaches, even little birds pop into existence. At some point, you have created something with adventure around every corner, or a comfy bench when you just want to appreciate all the choices in life that led you to this paradise. ...

Okay, picture this: A collectible card game – except digital! And you play as one of a bunch of different classes, with cards themed to your class. You can play through a deep RPG with unique storylines for all classes, or test your deck against other players! There’s never been anything quite like Hearthstone Shadowverse! Not the protagonist of the game, though he was of the anime. Bit of a demotion. ...

This is going to be a fairly short post, as I didn’t get a chance last night and pretty soon I’ll have to get ready for work. But: House of Legends is live in DC Universe Online, and it’s every bit as good (and bad) as promised! The Good Leveling is fast. My baby villain went from a CR of 53 to 64 – 11 CR gained in a night, just from drops.- Old armor sets are freely available. My main gained two skill points just from completing old armor sets.- Allies are fun little summons, but they don’t stick around.- Easy to find pickup raids.- Seemed like every solo and duo I did with the baby villain scored massive upgrades. My sister and her family recently moved from Texas back to Connecticut! Yay! So she’s living now on the coast, just 45 minutes away! More yay! We’re going down for a visit in a couple of weeks to see how she’s settling in! Maximum yay! Just one concern I have… which board game should I bring? First I had to find the place. So naturally, I hopped into Microsoft Flight Simulator to quickly fly from New Haven to where her house might be, on Long Island Sound. ...

It could be. I’ve been playing a lot of it. But, it isn’t. It’s about finding the motivation to blog, which, from what I gather, is this week’s theme. When blogging was at its biggest, blogging meant something. So many people that I followed at the time turned their blogs into real jobs. I turned my blog into two real jobs – one at an insurance company (where I still work), and a short gig blogging with Massively. I met a lot of really good friends, including my boyfriend, blogging. ...

24.8 hours to finish Final Fantasy III. I spent so much time preparing so much for the World of Darkness… and those preparations worked out really well. Here’s how we defeated the Cloud of Darkness and their feckless minion, Xande. Last time I played, I leveled all my warriors up to level 50 by running around the first floor in the Ancient Maze. The Invincible, parked just outside the entrance, was a perfect place to return to for resting, so I could use full power in all encounters without any regard for safety. ...

City of Heroes cast a long shadow over the superhero MMO landscape. There’s easily a half dozen efforts to resurrect the game in some form, either by recreating the original game, or building a clear sequel. As of now, though, there’s only two MMOs that can carry COH’s torch – superhero MMOs where you can build your own hero your own way. And those are Cryptic’s Champions Online, and Daybreak’s DC Universe Online. ...

I’m kind of worried about the next time when we play “Jaws of the Lion”, as we’ll be confronting cultists again. I don’t really know if I’ll be able to fight against the Blue Oyster Cult… I do try to print as much of the game as I can. I really have been slacking off, lately. I started out wanting to print all the hex tiles for all the dungeons, but the scenario book is so much more detailed… ...
