Panzer Dragoon: The Remake

Needle drop some , and you could pretend this post-apocalyptic arcade shooter is the iconic Taarna segment from the Heavy Metal movie. It’s all the otherworldly rails shooter action you could want in a game. Panzer Dragoon Remake cases, PS4 and Sega Saturn A long, long time ago, there was a little game called Starfox, for the Super Nintendo. It was a rails-based shooter that took Star Fox, Fox McCloud and his three friends, Slippy Toad, Peppy Hare, and Falco Lombardi, on an adventure that stretched from the land into space. ...

DCUO: How House of Legends is broken

DC Universe Online’s “House of Legends” expansion was meant to create a new game experience for both old heroes and new. It got halfway there. DCUO splits its players into two groups, and it’s not heroes vs villains. Heroes and Villains can group together now and complete the content together, and have been able to for some time. Most of the threats in DCUO now affect both hero and villain alike, and it’s probably not long before they can join together (if reluctantly) in the same super-league. It happens all the time in the comics and the cartoons. ...

Resurrecting West Karana

I was fascinated by UltrViolet’s DevOps-ification of his blog, “Endgame Viable”. The sort of stuff he’s doing is the sort of stuff I do every day at work. I’m getting paid to get better at doing all of this stuff, but my own blog can’t take advantage? That ends today. Today, I bring my old blog, West Karana, back to life, via the magic of DevOps. One of my old banners :-) ...

Blaugust 2021 -- That's a Wrap!

It’s been a month of blog posts! Maybe a little more, since I started posting daily a little before August in order to get in the routine. How’d I do? Let’s take a look… Final Fantasy 1 and 3 playthroughs My idea for the month was just to post daily playthroughs of Final Fantasy 1. I thought these games would be longer… and I wondered if really focusing on a single game would be a good way to narrowly target my blog in a way that would make it a destination for these kinds of things. ...

Tipa v Internet: Part II

I bought a new router and haven’t crashed in DCUO all night. Is everything good now? Did I fix the issue? I don’t have the slightest idea. More than that, I can’t know. Ever since the Hall of Legends update for DC Universe Online, I’ve had more or less success actually staying connected when I zone. I was on the phone with the techs at my ISP most of Saturday morning, and something they did seemed to clear it up, because I was able to play… Saturday. Sunday, no bueno. ...

DCUO: Disconnected

I mean that literally. Since House of Legends launched, I haven’t been able to play reliably. Here’s what I’ve been able to find out. I like DCUO. I play a lot of DCUO. Steam says I’ve played 1,053 hours of it on Steam. I also have some time on the Switch, the PlayStation, and a bit more time in the non-Steam client. I never had a problem playing the game. ...

The Kickstarter Addiction

I buy too much stuff on Kickstarter. And so can you. Might be fun to look into some of the recent projects I’ve backed… especially since I can’t reliably connect to DCUO since the patch so I am practicing mandolin and backing Kickstarters… and one of them is too horrifying to talk about. The other one is about giving your money to strangers. Hangin’ with Dr. Z: Season 2 Starting off with the one in the header, “Hangin’ with Dr. Z: Season 2”. Back last winter, I think it was, my boyfriend put on the Simpson’s “Planet of the Apes – the Musical” episode and all either of us were doing for the next few days were singing bits of “Doctor Zaius Doctor Zaius… Doctor Zaius”. ...

Townscaper 1.0 and 3D Printing

Townscaper has left early access and hit app stores all around the world with the peaceful grooves of Swedish seaside villages. It also is released for 3D printers. I have taken the 3D printing for a spin… and the results are pretty cool! A really simple Townscape For those who haven’t had their lives touched by Townscaper, it’s a simple little game, originally out for Steam but now also out for the Nintendo Switch, where you paint a town onto a placid sea. As you build further, landscaping, beaches, even little birds pop into existence. At some point, you have created something with adventure around every corner, or a comfy bench when you just want to appreciate all the choices in life that led you to this paradise. ...

Shadowverse Showdown!

Okay, picture this: A collectible card game – except digital! And you play as one of a bunch of different classes, with cards themed to your class. You can play through a deep RPG with unique storylines for all classes, or test your deck against other players! There’s never been anything quite like Hearthstone Shadowverse! Not the protagonist of the game, though he was of the anime. Bit of a demotion. ...

DCUO: House of Legends is LIVE!

This is going to be a fairly short post, as I didn’t get a chance last night and pretty soon I’ll have to get ready for work. But: House of Legends is live in DC Universe Online, and it’s every bit as good (and bad) as promised! The Good Leveling is fast. My baby villain went from a CR of 53 to 64 – 11 CR gained in a night, just from drops.- Old armor sets are freely available. My main gained two skill points just from completing old armor sets.- Allies are fun little summons, but they don’t stick around.- Easy to find pickup raids.- Seemed like every solo and duo I did with the baby villain scored massive upgrades. The Less-than-Good ...
